Paul Llewellyn
Paul qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1996 and has been a Fellow member of the faculty since 2019. He currently holds the roles of Chief Clinical Information Officer and Clinical Safety Officer at Accenture UK. He has 18 years of experience in digital health in various leadership positions, encompassing Electronic Patient Records (EPR), telehealth and interoperability. His primary focus has always been improving patient outcomes through the transformative potential of technology.
Paul continues to work in clinical practice each month. He is married with three adult children and lives in London.

Wendy Dearing
Wendy was appointed Dean of the Institute of Management and Health at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in late 2020.
With a nursing background, Wendy holds an MSc in Change & Innovation, and a Professorship in Applied Practice in recognition of her expertise and knowledge in championing professionalism in technology and information.
Prior to her current, Wendy was Head of Workforce and Organisational Development within the NHS Wales Informatics Service.
In 2016 she was instrumental in creating Wales Institute of Digital Information (WIDI) to support the development and implementation of Health informatics Apprenticeships and other learning programmes. WIDI has now grown to include research, development and supporting innovation within its portfolio.
Wendy is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS), Vice Chair for professionalism and is on the board of Federation of Informatics Professionals (Fed-IP) as well as holding Leading Practitioner status.
She has a passion for developing “the next generation” as well developing professionalism across Health Informatics.

Justin Whatling
Justin has over 20 years working experience in using technology and informatics to transform outcomes for patients.
Passionate about developing professionalism for health informatics, he is a Founding Fellow of the Faculty, current member of our Finance Audit and Risk Committee, and sat on our first formal Council. Justin is also a Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, where he is a current member of BCS’s Academy of Computing Board representing BCS on the management committee of the Faculty’s official journal, BMJ Health & Care Informatics Justin is a past chair for BCS Health where he helped establish The Federation of Informatics Professionals, FEDIP, where he is a Leading Practitioner and the Faculty is a membership body, and helped launch the initial campaign for CCIOs in the UK.
Justin is currently Managing Director for Health & Life Sciences at Palantir Technologies, and Non-Executive Director of The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, NICE, where he is helping with digital product strategies. Previous positions include Vice President Population Health Management at Cerner, Clinical Director at BT Health, and Non-Executive Director for the BMJ Publishing Group.
Justin is a member of the techUK Life Sciences Working Group. Past advisory roles include being an Independent Member on the NHS’s National Information Board who set the strategy and direction for technology and information in the NHS in England, member of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, EPSRC, healthcare Strategic Advisory Team, and Steering Committee member of the Health and Care Infrastructure Research and Innovation Centre (HaCIRIC) supporting better healthcare through better infrastructure.
Sustaining his interest in entrepreneurship, Justin is a current member of CW+ Innovation Advisory Board, the official charity of the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has previously ran summer schools for health tech start-ups with BCS and techUK, has championed introduction of new standards like SMART and FHIR for App integration into the UK, and helped found INTEROPen interoperability initiative.
Terms of Reference
The Faculty of Clinical Informatics (FCI) is governed by a Trustee Board. As Trustees, Members of the Board have the ultimate legal responsibility for the Faculty.
The Trustee Board comprises the Chair of Council, Vice Chair, Hon Secretary, Hon Treasurer and Lay Trustees. The Trustee Board delegates to Council the professional and strategic work programmes of the FCI.
